Syfy’s The Magicians Joins The Expanse With a Season 2 Order

Brakebills’ latest freshman class has already gotten the green-light for its sophomore semesters. Joining Syfy’s other novel exploration, The Expanse, Lev Grossman’s Magicians series has also gotten a 13-episode order for season two.

Frequently referred to as “Harry Potter for adults,” The Magicians is a fun mix of adventure, humor and conflict. More than just Best Selling brethren, The Magicians and The Expanse (read our review on the latter!) continue to cement Syfy’s growing catalogue of dramatic, scripted television. Coming in around 1.6 to 1.7 million viewers over their opening chapters – which are not great, but still strong numbers – the two shows are proving that fans will tune in for smart, thoughtful stories. No dumbing down required.

The Magicians is airing now Monday nights on Syfy and The Expanse returns January 2017.

About The Author

Michael Pellegrini

Michael is a classic example of a child trapped in an adult's body - and I use the word "adult" very, very loosely. With interests ranging from comic books and movies to theater and fine art, Mike has followed humble journalistic beginnings that have led to interviews, reviews, news write-ups and opinion - though it's ever changing - pieces covering those same interests. All of that brings us here, to a site where a community of like-minded geeks can inform the rest of the world on the topics we adore. And on the personal side of things, Michael squeezes time for his lovely wife and house full of dogs between all the comic reading and video game playing.
